Keynote Presentation: Deconstructing Narratives of Good Librarianship

What does it mean to be a "good librarian"? What are the qualities of a good librarian? What values do they adhere to? What is a good librarian hoping to accomplish with their work in libraries? What goals are they/we working towards? Drawing from the work of Eve Tuck and K. Wayne Wang in their edited collection, Toward What Justice? Describing Diverse Dreams of Justice in Education, I will explore these questions within the context of our work in libraries, why it's crucial for us to understand the myth behind "good librarianship," what is actually at work within libraries, and where we might go from there.
